Responding to community needs

By being part of the National Talent Bank, employees will make a difference to their community. They can choose from three themes which address different community needs.

The next generation

Work with young people on their personal development and help them address the issues that they face. Projects range from one to one support to make young people’s lives safer and happier, to working within schools to offer career advice, business and enterprise ideas and encourage healthy eating.

A greener society

Work towards an environmentally friendly society and get involved in conservation work. Projects include creating and leading your own eco team to develop ways of tackling climate change in your local area, to getting out into the community and do your bit by restoring buildings or conserving nature.

Local communities

Offer your time and skills to strengthen the local community you live in. You can draw on your own individual skills and share them with a charity that needs them, or offer one to one support to people in your community who need it.

Charities and social enterprises offering volunteering projects under the themes, will need to:

  • engage the talents and passions of volunteers;
  • be capable of taking on new volunteers;
  • build skills and confidence;
  • work with an existing network who have the will and capacity to expand;
  • make a difference and have a positive impact on the community; and
  • require minimal support from the National Talent Bank to train and support volunteers.

Be part of it

Rising levels of youth unemployment means there is an even bigger demand for skills development among young people. That is why we welcome the National Talent Bank and are pleased to be part of it. We look forward to students being able to benefit from highly skilled people raising their aspirations and delivering a skills programme that will offer these young people a clearer route from training to work.
